Play against an AI chess expert

Chess AI is an open-source sports game by Sebastian Lague. The game follows the same rules and features as other online chess games. The goal of the game is to execute a checkmate using the traditional chess rules. This means that every player will get 16 chess pieces consisting of a king, a rook, a queen, a pawn, a knight, a bishop. Once you check the king of the AI, you are declared the winner.

What are the basic rules of Chess AI?

Chess AI is a single-player strategy game that applies the rules of chess. This involves the original configuration of chess, in which the square board is split into 8x8 squares. This creates 64 squares of contrasting light and dark colors. The 32 chess pieces are at the top of the board. Each player is given 16 pieces each, namely: 1 King, 1 Queen, 2 Rooks, 2 Bishops, 2 Knights, 8 Pawns.

As the game continues, you must move your pieces even If the only viable move could cost you the game. This is because the chess rules say that players cannot skip a turn. Each type of chess piece has its own motion system. Generally, a piece goes to an empty square—black or white—except where the objective is to grab the opponent's piece. Capturing or removing a piece is where you replace a piece on its square.

Pawns can move to an empty square in front of it. It can also move diagonally, but only when capturing the opponent's piece. The Bishop and Queen can move to any number of empty squares, in any direction. Kings move the same way, but just one square per turn. Rooks can also move any set of squares, only horizontally and vertically. The Knight is different from all the pieces since he will move to the closest square.

Beat Chess AI

Chess AI by Sebastian Lague is a good game for chess lovers. The game follows the rules of chess to a tee. You'll need to get acquainted with the motions and functions of the various pieces. Chess AI acts as a connection between players and algorithms. The game is not as dynamic as playing with a real human, but its AI will test you through a variety of difficulty levels.
